Lyttelton Harbour June 1968

Lyttelton Harbour June 1968

This was taken from mv Luxor on my first and only visit to Lyttelton. I have no idea of the identification of any of the ships and it is only when looking at this slide after many years that I even remember warships being there. I presume this was taken from the tanker berth but it may have been whilst at anchor, just can't remember I'm afraid. One of our Kiwi friends will solve it.

Look like US navy vessels. The USS Co looks like Kawerau or one of that Class

Definitely taken from the Oil Wharf. That wharf with the Navy ships at (No.6) hardly exists these days with No.5 & No.4 falling into a very bad state of repair.

The missile ship on the right is DLG 24 USS Reeves. Thanks for the nice photo.
