LYTTELTON II

Along side at Victoria Dock in Melbourne in 1987.Towed to Geelong and broken up in 2006.Engines and boilers were saved and are on display at the National Steam Centre in Melbourne. Was and still is my favourite vessel and first vessel I ever photographed.

Another sad case of lost history.
Is a trip to the National Steam Centre worthwhile in that is the machinery steamed from time to time.
To me there is nothing sadder than a dead cold boiler or an engine run on compressed air like the pumping engine at Scienceworks or one run by an electric motor like the Tower bridge machinery in London.
I suppose that I am just ungrateful.
