Difference between M2 & M3

Recently it has been used for carrying scrap metal off the two Rig supply ships Grampian Dawn & Grampian Princess moored at Ipswich's Anglian Water jetty.

It was rumoured that a River Pilot complained about the noise from the very throaty twin diesel engines and the lack of navigation lights on the Alligator.

I believe that the Alligator is better than most vessels on the river as it has head & tail lights as well as indicators and brake lights.
