Lovely old photo Dick. Taken in the Ship Canal by the look of things. I wouldn't have fancied that open bridge on the North Atlantic in winter, which was her run.

This old ship was originally ordered by Austrian Lloyd' but these were war days she had a speed of 10 & a quarter knots' but whilst of the coast of Irland she was pursued by an enemy submarine' Captain Perry called for volunteers to assist the stokers and they operated so well it was said the ship went upto 16 knots...but from which effort it is said' she never recovered' she gave 20 years service to the company' she was sold in June 1937 to B.S Shipping Co. and renamed St.Winfred' In 1939 she was sold again to Italian interests and renamed Capo Vita ....on the 9th March 1941 west of Lampedusa Island she was Torpedoed by a British Submarine.....this was her end.
