Amazed that this picture hasn't had comments from OW's Amazing how so many Nautical Colleges, with long histories, just evaporated in the late 70's. Suppose it was just coincident with the advent of container Ships and FOC shipping? Remember how the Worcester, nearly, always called you up by Aldis light - always the cadets job to reply in SSA - although sometimes the R/O was happy to oblige! Happy days of a slower pace of life.

I was there as a boy for five months late 1957 working in the galley peeling spuds and washing up the only way for me to get away to sea as I was to young for the sea schools at just fifteen, I did my first voyage round the world out through Suez and back through the Panama I had my sixteenth birthday half way through my leave I have fond memories of my time aboard her .
