Any ideas as to the origin of the anchor?

It looks like it's been made for the memorial - it doesn't look substantial enough for anything but the smallest ship, whilst the fluke/stock looks like a welded one piece item, as opposed to being of the "hinged" variety.

Quite right Jim,
Close up it does not look the real thing.
Those round type of links would not be used in an
anchor cable

You are quite correct. Looking back to when I went there, it was not an item that struck me as anything memorable or historic. The small size etc indicates an anchor made purely for the wonderful monument.
