This pic from my grandfather's albums simply says 'S.S. Montreal C.P.R.'
Built 1900 by Swan Hunter at Wallsend for Elder Dempster Beaver Line. 6,870 tons gross, length 449.5ft, beam 56.2ft. Twin screw, 13 knots.
Rebuilt for C.P.R. in 1903, 8,644 gross tons. 29.01.1918 in collision with White Star's 'Cedric' - sank off Liverpool next day, without loss of life. Signalman.
