Moore-McCormack deck

Moore-McCormack deck

Foredeck of a Moore-McCormack ship. 1960 or earlier.
Time out for a discussion of tactics at starboard. The caption says she's getting underway. Nobody on the forecastle, lookout leaving early for a *** and coffee before takeover at the wheel. Could she, in spite of that, be making ready to unload? Lots of loose guys, nobody in a hurry to change that...

She is arriving inbound from deep sea, batons still across the hatches. Making way to the berth in sheltered water and rigging the gear for cargo work, but looking at the way the crew are dressed she's a long way from Honolulu. Looking at the damp quality of the air, I would guess arriving at a Japanese port.

Hi Geoff. Looks more logical yes. Thanks for confirming my suspicion and adding a couple of nice deductions as to whereabouts! Regards, Stein
