What the finished article looks like;sister MOUNTS BAY in the fitting out basin.Launched exactly one year previously she is due on trials later this year.
It is always tricky when production of the second ship gets ahead of the "first of class". The old Swan Hunter crew had that problem when they were buiding Fort George. Now the new Wallsend team seem to be causing difficulties for the lads on the Clyde.
Good pics.
Can you enlighten me as to where the funnels or exhausts are or will be or has the design not got that far yet? I understood the design was based on the Dutch Rotterdam and the funnels are obvious on her.
Cheers
The exhausts are right down aft, on the maindeck, either side of the stern door.
As I understand it, the two ships on the Tyne were floated out (not launched, as they were glued together in a floating dock) as empty shells, whereas the two Clyde built ships were launched 75% complete. Consequently Swan Hunters are having all sorts of problems.
