An interesting photo that poses a question. "V" was indeed the flag superior for MTB's, but 252 was a White (of Cowes) designed and built vessel which more closely resembled the familiar Vosper short design, whereas this vessel is almost certainly a British Power Boat Company design. The two canvas covered gun turrets on the superstructure are like those installed in RAF ASR launches of the same design as this vessel. Does anyone have an answer? MTB252 (The White built vessel) was commissioned in 1943.

Surely not Greenock with those car models on the dock ?
A similar photo of the three Flower Class Corvettes, probably taken at the same time, has created some discussion with proof that the photo was actually taken in Halifax, Nova Scotia and not Greenock.

I had a doubt too Qu1ckn1ck looking at the vehicles. I'll amend the loc. Perhaps the MTB is a Canadian model.

Apparently V252 was one of 12 Canadian Motor Torpedo Boats built by Canadian Power Boat Co, a subsidiary of British Power Boat Co, at Montreal.

Thanks to Erling Baldorf for advising the photo location as Halifax and supplying details of V252's builder.

Apparently not the first time this photo has caused some head scratching !
