Would it have seen a lick of paint again until her next dry docking?! lol. All banter aside, I always thoroughly enjoy seeing photos of the Everard coasters, despite them looking shocking at times, they're still a very important part of our rich heritage.
It was all before my time though. In 1999, the year before I finished school I applied to them to be trained as a deck hand only to be politely informed that they only employ Polish ratings etc, I got the same reply from Crescent's and every one else.

Seen many of Fred's looking quite badly maintained in regards to paintwork both over the side and accommodation block, some were quite nice but was post recent dry dockings. The reason mainly given for lack of paint maintainance was they were hard working vessels, which no doubt they were. However they were not any more hardworking than lots of other companies vessels in the same trade which were maintained to a very high standard between dry dockings.
