lovely shot of a classic freighter. Dutch ships like this seemed to be everywhere out in the Far East once upon a time..
She was built as "NEDER RHONE" by Howaldtswerke, Hamburg in 1963 ( yard no.958) for Stoomvaart Mij. 'Nederland', Amsterdam.
LxBxH: 152.41 x 21.03 x 12.34 m & of 9,900 g.t.
Two 8 cyl.Sulzer main engines producing 15,000 hp for 20 knots.
In 1970 she ws absorbed into the giant Nedlloyd comapany but retained her name.
In 1979 she was renamed "Nedlloyd Rhone".
In 1982 she was sold to the Saudi's and renamed "Saudi al Medina" & was broken up in China in 1985.
