Nedlloyd Alkmaar

I started my career as a deck cadet on this beautiful ship. Six months touring the Pacific basin.

Redbeard , I remember when these ships were built for Navigation and Coal Trade , London (Vlasov Group ) Think there were three and two were named 'CORALSTONE' and 'LODESTONE' . They were quite advanced ships for their time but did'nt stay with Navcot for long.

This one was the Lodestone, it still had the anchorbell with that name on it.

I was on Nelloyd Alkmaar from may 1983 until december 1983 as apprentice mate from the nautical College in Den Helder. Had a great time sailing the Pacific.
