Same flip-flops and same foam-rubber matresses as elsewhere at the time, a step up from the straw-filled ones of earlier times, and quite easy to move out on deck. The flower-muster is a surprise though, never saw anything but plain blue. Regards, Stein.
Done this a few times in warmer climes until one morning I woke up to see a rat sniffing my feet and refrained from doing it again another morning I woke up with the mother of all cockroaches on my eyelid straight into the stores and gave my cabin a dose of about 5 cans of baygon the engineer next door wasnt impressed when they all migrated into his cabin
Only problem I found with sleeping on deck in the tropics was one bloody bosun.
This one had great delight in hosing down the deck around 0600 and if you didnt wake up and move the bedding got a wetting too.
