Thank you andersen for the bio of Norik. I was on her as o/S 1963 and we were sailing between Norway and Finlanf carrying timber and the 'nors hydo saltpetre' for Hango. I have seeking some more photo of her but didn't find any.

Hi Carpenter. There's a Swedish fellow, Sten Svensson that served on her for a while, and who's got his life story (in Swedish) on the web. If you scroll down to the paragraph beginning with "Mor far och Gun", you might find something of interest if you do not already know of the site: http://www.stenes.com/historia.html
There's three pictures of the Norik in Jan Davidson's "På Rååseglarnas Tid", Goth.b 1991, on the cover and inside, this one: http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r28/stein_photo/DSC_0022.jpg , showing Karl Nilsson and John Ørnberg doing some caulking in 1953. The two othe pictures does not show the ship in much detail; one is captioned "Holms yard March 18th 1952", and shows the Elna, the Else, the Norik and the Selma from high above, the other "Harnøsand spring 1952" and showing 7 named schooners, the Norik not figuring large. She is mentioned both in this work and in K. J. Wikstrøms "Sjøfart och Sjøman", Halsingborg 1978, but anything substantial to add to the above posting by Hald-Andersen is not to be found. Regards, Stein

Still in the 80´s we got small coasters in Denmark carrying sail. Eks. "Hanne Hansen" and the Jørs ship today have 1 big sail.
Regards Torben.
