LOVLEY SHOT OF NORTHEN STAR WITH HER SHORT LIVED GREEN FUNNEL AND YELLOW STAR I THINK THIS WAS FOR SEVERAL VOYAGES IN 1966. THE PHOTO IT LOOKS LIKE RAROTANGA COOK ISLANDS SHAW SAVILL USED TO CALL THERE ON THERE ROUND WORD VOYAGES . PASSENGERS WERE NOT ALLOWED ASHORE IN STEAD LOCAL ISLANDERS CAME OUT TO PUT ON A SHOW AND SOLD THERE WEARS. RAROTONGA WAS A NEW ZEALAND PROTECTORATE. I VISITED RAROTONGA ON A PACIFIC CRUISE IN 1977 ON ARCADIA AND WE WERE NOT ALLOWED A SHORE ALL I SAW OF THE ISLAND WAS FROM THE SHIP. AS ABOVE LOCALS CAME ON BOARD. TODAY I THINK CRUISE SHIPS CALLING ARE ALLOWED TO LET PASSENGER GO ASHORE?.
