Discharging bus at either Algiers or Tunis 1986, doesn't look as if we had it slung correctly!

It is possible the sling was OK until someone released the brakes and the front wheels then rotated, thereby allowing the weight of the bus to be taken by one rope on the bodywork and the wheel arch.... easily done (Jester)

The slings were the ones used for loading but we didn't make a note of how they were set so it was trial and error when it came to discharge.

All it needed is a few planks of wood, ship level with the quay and he could have just driven off the ship. Just like they did on the Isle of Man steamers.

It remind me of the time when I was on the Anatolian in Libya when they dropped a Centurian tank on the ships rail.
