Tom - yes def the Otaio.

The ship to right is not the Otaio, it is the Richardson coaster Pukeko.

The one to the left is either Kaimai or Konini, Union SS.

I think I would have been on her on this trip.
Signed on Falmouth 11/07/66 and off Liverpool 14/10/66. Quick Kiwi trip. I then coasted her around the land to London.

Looks like a nippy morning - is he off down the British for a livener? Luckily Global Warming has put an end to those cold days in the South Island.

Trotter. A poor £30 a month Engineer cadet - yes it was freezing and no chance of getting ashore for a livener!

Tom. We sailed light ship from Falmouth dry dock on the trip you mention, but if I remember correctly this was the trip before when we had come through Suez to Fremantle- Adelaide - Melbourne -Brisbane - Sydney, then to New Plymouth and Christchurch, then Lyttleton.
