I've still got my 1956 edition which apparently cost me 5/-. Sadly the dust jacket is long gone but otherwise it's still in good condition. The old ones often come up on eBay if want to buy a few back or Abebooks can track some down, link hereAbebooks

Thanks for the memory. My parents encouraged my interest as well and I still have some those book about. Call me a nostalgia buff but I also tracked acouple of one that had gone and reacquired them.

cheers

I had a ' Dumpy Book of Ships ' too, which I'd love to find again. It was full of profile drawings which probably came from Talbot-Booth.
Oh, and I had Obsever's Books of all sorts of things ! Just seeing the cover makes me feel like a kid again !

Ooh, there's a blast from the past that I'd clean forgotten. the Dumpy book. I had that one too.

Mine is looking very tatty and has no cover or date. It must be sometime in the 50's. I still have my Dumpy Book of Ships and the Sea but no date in that one.

There should be a book section to post this in...looks like it would get a lot of interest.
