Hello Frank.

The former PRESIDENT ROOSEVELT has had more names changes and owners than your average ocean liner/cruise ship.
More information on her here:

Unfortunately she was sold for scrap in 2004, although she was in pristine condition to the very end.

Hope that didn't come off as arrogant, it's always bothered me to no end that we could build good ships but have virtually no merchant marine to speak of.

I always liked the American built ships of the 30s, but there were no "real" ships before them, compared to the competitors White Star & Cunard Line! Btw, the ship seems to be laid up at Elefsina bay, a favourite place for lay-ups!

Leviathan and several other German-built liners were of course, in service under the stars and stripes, but you're right, not until the popular Manhattan and Washington came into service did we really start to strut our stuff.

Again though, we could build them but failed when it came to keep them operating.
