Old postcard of Nice

Old postcard of Nice

An unused postcard. On the reverse is printed - La Cote d'Azur. Nice - L'Entree du Port.
The steamer may be identifiable, as she has rather unusual goalpost type masts. Her name seems to be six letters, and she could be carrying Carley floats or rafts, which might date the view as immediately post

Looks like a bit of a panic going on, I think he may have "touched base"

I've just had a close look with a strong glass, and the last four of six letters are ..UFRA. This makes me think she is the KOUFRA , apparently owned by the French Govt. from 1946 to 1948. She was built in 1923 BY Wm. Gray at Hartlepool as Strick's BARDISTAN ( with distinctive goalpost masts ), and was broken up in 1976 as the Turkish SEFEROGLU.
I tend to agree that she may indeed be stuck - full astern and waggling her rudder by the look of it ! There also seems to be a group of spectators on the end of the pier to her immediate starboard.
Graham.

Sorry, CVB, I obviously can't use my eyes and brain at the same time !! I checked on Miramar, and had even written the name RECHERCHE on the back of the card ! One of the Duncan Haws' Merchant Fleets in Profile set that I sadly miss is that of Messageries Maritimes. I have her in an old Talbot-Booth as CAPO OLMO with Genovese. It's strange that the longest we was with one name was her final one under the Turkish flag, 22 years !
