Old postcard of ship painting

I bought this for 50P some years ago, it has nothing on the back of the postcard to indicate when it was produced. The painting is of a vessel called the Clifton and this name is visible, I have tried to make out the houseflag but without any luck. The card appears to be quite old as it had started

Kris, Thank you. That seems to be a pretty accurate bit of information, and I will start researching from that point. Salaams, Roger
