The Orama was torpedoed by the Admiral Hipper on 8 June 1940, off the Norwegian coast, after the Narvik affair as the allied, UK, France and Poland, withdrew from Norway. 280 persons were saved by the Germans, 19 men were lost.

Four of my pals from Tilbury were taken prisoner when she was sunk
and they had the rest of the war in a POW camp Westertimke near Bremen.
