Certainly changed, but not for the better. The public viewing deck is up the first level at the end. More times than not the area is used as a dining area by the hotel. Nobody in authority seems to make a stand on behalf of the public's rights.

I sailed in on Oriana in 2002 to Auckland I had not been there for 30 years , I was amazed as we docked and looked into hotel rooms early in the morning. It has changed a lot as many terminals have all over the world.

Even when it was the old wharf with the top level being a carpark and viewing deck, you use to see some sights in the morning with some passangers not realising the ship had berthed. I am not sure who was more shocked the visitors on the wharf or the passenger who had just opened the curtains !!

Yes nice picture and terminal certainly changed since I lived there. Walked every inch of the old one and every inch of Oriana when aboard in June this year. All being well, will be back in May. David

Princes Wharf was in the news at the weekend after a death and an investigation is now underway.

Police say a man's body was found near the wharf edge just before 4am on Sunday.

They say the 24 year old man was reported to have been drinking with a group of friends on the eighth floor of an apartment and had been talking about jumping into the harbour from the balcony.

Clearly he missed and paid with his life.
