In the evening sunshine in 1962 ORONSAY 27637 grt built by Vickers Armstrong, Barrow overtakes Furness Withy's Pacific Unity in Juan de Fuca Straights, British Columbia-Both ships on way to Vancouver.
Oronsay is still in her "corn" coloured hull prior to adopting the P&O all white.
She was broken up at Kaohsiung in 1976

I agree. Lovely in Orient livery. White did not really do much for them.

Being a Tilbury lad. I nearly sailed on the Oronsay from Long Beach to Yokohama in 1961, only trouble being I was signed on the Baron Belhaven at the time, just heard the final "All Visitors Ashore" call, I'm sure she was moving as I stepped off the gangway. It would have been a nice break as we were loading for Yokohama via Osaka and Kobe, I doubt whether Capt Duncan Macgregor would have seen it my way. Met Typhoon Tilda about two weeks later. What an experience that was.
