Outstanding class of ships, ex RN Bird or Peacock class HKPV, The Irish Navy have obviously looked after her as she is still looking good!
She is LÉ Orla, Orla was formerly the RN's HMS Swift (P243) she was sold to the Irish Navy in 1988.
A Very comfortable Patrol craft, built by Hall Russell of Aberdeen, well appointed interior for a warship, good seaboats too, weathered many a Typhoon in some of Orla's sister ships when the class were based in Hong Kong.

She looks in cracking nick, it was such a pity the RN didn't keep hold of these after the handover of Hong Kong.

Mark,
I agree mate, they would have made handy Patrol ships, they may be small but they could cope with some serious roughers, I spent 3 years on this class, mainly in Plover, but also did loan drafts in Starling and Peacock (they all went to the Phillipines).
Regards,
Tom
