Panagiotis

Panagiotis

wreck of Panagiotis at Zakynthos, Greece 2006.

The story of the shipwreck is that in 1983 a boat that was trying to illegally smuggle cigarettes and alcohol to Greece, was tracked by the Greek Navy and due to poor weather it hit rocks which led to it being washed up on the beach

As seen in every good holiday brochure of the Greek Islands, the history of her escapes me but I`m sure that some wise owl will on SN will know the story. I`m sure she was British built & owned at one time.

The correct name is PANAGIOTIS. She's a former J. & A. Gardner vessel - can't remember which one offhand. She enden up on the beach in the 1980s after an unsucessful attempt to smuggle contraband..

Ben - hope you liked Zakynthos. Nice, Isn't it?
