remember her and being on princess wharf one early sunny morning around 1974 when she and fairstar both arrived at the same time one on either side of the wharf they both looked amazing in the early morning sunshine here in auckland
As built she was your classic all round cargo and passenger ship and was only 9 years old when sold to the Chandris Line.
Her total cargo space was 515.000 cf and approximatley a third was refrigerated and this capacity was retained and on one occasion in 1962 the cargo ship Dona Gisella transhipped her refrigerated cargo to the Patris in Melbourne. This was a bid by Chandris to secure a contract with the New Zealand Meat Board for the carriage of frozen meat to the Middle East and Greece.
Her first call to New Zealand was in November 1961
