Built in 1956 by Eriksbergs in Gothenberg and still listed in the Tanker Register in 1963, so she must have continued trading after the fire for the same owners, Kristiandsands. 7 cyl B&W engines giving service speed of 15 kts, DWT 24,900 Tons.

Dave & Mac, she's still listed in the '71 Tanker register, still owned by Kristiansands, but her speed has dropped to 14 knots and DWT has gone up to 26,015. Interesting how the details change between editions which I've noticed before.

Alastair

Clive,
I agree that she looks stretched but Lloyds Registers show no alterations during her life, which surprised me.

As built : 15,738 g.t. & 24,900 dwt. 605ft X 77ft X 32ft.
Also appears to be a "one off" design.

By comparsion, Eriksbergs also delivered in the same year , 1956, a 34,800 dwt. tanker , the " Ferncrest" so it was within their capabilities at the time .

1974 sold to Creta Maritime Liberia & renamed " Stolt Hera".

31/05/1977 sustained severe bottom damage at Bare Bush Cay,Jamaica.

Sailed to Galveston and declared a CTL, sold to breakers at Brownsville, Texas where she arrived 17/06/1977 for demolition.

Regards,
Rick

Clive,
Don't believe she was ever 'stretched'. The increase in deadweight would be due to the revised load line regulations which came into force in the mid-
1960's. These also saw the end of open/closed shelter-deck dry cargo ships.
Thanks, Rick, for her further details.

Regards,
Dave.
