Port New Plymouth

Port New Plymouth

Built 1960 by Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson of Newcastle.
13,085 grt. Service speed of 18 knots.
In May 1967 she carried, as an experiment, a single container to Melbourne. We all know the outcome of that!
During 1979 she was sold to Tex-Dilan Shipping Co. of Panama and renamed "Plymouth".
After one trip to the Far East she was broken up at Kaohsiung.

Roy, thank you so much for the series of photographs of these beautiful Port Line ships! The Port New Plymouth was my last ship, signing off November 1965. If only I could go back in time and do it all again!
These photographs have revealed Port Line ships I never knew existed!, the Port Wanstead and the Port Wimbledon.
Tell me, do you know the port were most of these photographs were taken? It reminds me of New Zealand, possibly Lyttleton?
Thanks again

G'day Chris,
just about all of these photos were taken on the Otago Harbour and more specifically, between Port Chalmers and Dunedin. Still have a few more to post yet but have to sort them out.

Regards, Roy.
