PS Waverly

Steam windlass on Waverly's fo'csle. Last time I operated one of those was on a Shell tanker back in the 70s, and it was a bit bigger!

It must be well over 50yrs since I cut and gapped a set of piston ring's on similiar type's of equipment, in those day's the brake material was usually wooden block's rather than Ferodo, looks like they may have had trouble with the directional valve (usually the pin snaps inside the valve box) as the cover has been removed since painting. Grand little job while the Sun was shining but a short straw job in the Winter, this equipment was built to last the life of the vessel, and then some, as they were often found at the head of a Slip pulling small vessel's out of the water.
