What a great picture. Look at that Ford 105E pulling out. it must have been new in those days.

One of the highlights of my holidays on the Island was coming out of the railway tunnel and hoping to see one of the great liners of the time passing through Spithead. Happily there were many such occaisons.

Thank you all for comments. I cannot take the praise though as I did not take the shot.
More relaxed times then but of course the seamans strike was one year previous.
When the sun returns I will take a photo from the same spot trying to avoid the traffic wardens !

And apart from what looks like a VW van, can you see any foriegn cars in the photo? Mini's, 1100's, Anglias, Vauxhalls, Moggie Minors etc. Those were the days!

Nostalgic indeed ! It surprised me to hear on the radio today that the dreaded traffic wardens were first free to wreak havoc on motorists in 1960. I had forgotten it was that early.
Good point Dave ! about the grand old lady.
