Queen of Bermuda II design

I have long wondered what might have happened if in the late 50's / early 60's Furness had decided to replace the 1932 built Queen of Bermuda instead of refurbishing her. I came up with this design, based in great part on the 1961 John Brown built Transvaal Castle, but shortened and made more of a

Absolutely lovely, she could have very easily become my most favourite ship. How splendid she would have been as a Union-Castle Line cruise ship, instead of the Reina del Mar. This could have been an altogether more up-market experience and who knows, as a consequence the company might have survived. Wishful thinking.

Well Stephen,
I imagine she would have had to be a lot shorter and beamier than the UCL ships so that her draft would have allowed for Hamilton! I was just spitballing, trying to think of what a 60's design for Furness might have looked like. Something of a larger, more modern Ocean Monarch. Any word on if Bermuda has had any luck finding a Hamilton or St. George ship for 2014?

Thad,

No. Nothing as yet. Furness better start building!!!

Always a possibility that VEENDAM will return in 2014. Might even allow gambling on boaard. NCL is kind of demanding that it be allowed on the BREAKAWAY.

Thad.

Just a chance that had Furness built something new for 1967 they might have ordered a SAGAFJORD type liner. How good are you skills at repainting a SAGAFJORD in Furness colours? ;-)
