Nice photo Rick,
In 1967 when I was onboard M/S "Else Reith" we were on charter to a Finnish company, and in the winter it was not unusual in some area's to see people on ski's waiting to cross the ice after your ship had gone past.
The maddening thing is I never got any photos of them.
Giddy , don't laugh ! I reckon it happens out there!!
Frank, it never ceases to amaze me that the local lake hopping ferries in Finland , of which there are hundreds , shut down in winter and are laid up in special little protected berths normally on the other side of their loading ramps.
On my first visit to central Finland many years ago , I naively asked " How do the cars and trucks get across in winter then ? "
The reply: " They drive over the ice, of course".
The sight of an artic driving across a lake has to be seen...
