Radio Room mv Al Mubarakiah

A wider shot of the new installation (at the time) - the Conqueror transmitter was one of the first fitted on a seagoing vessel and was crystal controlled - later versions were fully synthesised. Note the callsign had been taped over.

The statement that Marconi Marine made history in 1970 when the first woman radio officer ever went to sea in the British Merchant Navy is at odds with the information contained in Gordon Mumford's website on radio officers.
It lists Joanna Greenlaw who joined Marconi Marine and served 1942-54.
