Hi Paul,

From what I have read, I believe that they are the old Submarines, Warspite, Valiant & Conqueror . Which is which I dont know but suspect that the two without their conning towers are Warspite and Valiant and the one in the middle is Conqueror. HMS Splendid is decommisioned in Devonport but berthed elsewhere.

Sorry got cut off the plan was to tow them up to Scotland and pull them up a beach the inboard boat is Warspite the one with the Fin and no rudder I believe is Conqueror and the outboard boat courageous. When Ileft the disposal group in 1992 Warspite was as you see Conqueror had then started and Courageous had just arrived

Desposing of them has been a problem for 20 years+, original plan to sink them mid atlantic "dare is say" was scuppered by enviromentalists. Other plans included buy some of the american desert where they bury theirs but i guess costs have over ruled this. There are several more hunter killers at Rosysth awaiting a fate + the 4 bombers(polaris) boats. I wonder in whose lifetime we will see something happen with these sad hulks.

Isn't Courageous not preserved in a dry dock in South Yard....I think these three are Warspite, Conqueror and Valiant in that order from the quay outwards. Splendid is indeed berthed there but near the sub repair facility.

It really should be the Conquerer that is on display , after all she is still the only SSN to fire a torpedo in anger and to sink an enemy ship ( Falklands campaign 1982, General Belgrano )
