Wm. Cory's 1949 Richard Dunston, Thorne, built tug RELENTLESS is seen at Gravesend in August 1969.

1976: sold for breaking at Blackwall but believed later registered at Lagos, Nigeria.

unidentified type engine by British Polar Engines Ltd., Glasgow. 450 BHP.
1949: Launched by Richard Dunston Ltd., Thorne (Yard No. 755) for Cory Lighterage Ltd.
24.4.1949: Registered at London
6.1949: Completed
by 1965: Transferred to Wm. Cory & Son Ltd.
1970: Transferred to Mercantile Lighterage Company Ltd.
1976: Sold for demolition at Blackwall but reported as resold foreign - Nigeria.

Really like the photos of these small but strong Thames tugs.

The tugs were strong and the skippers and crews were very much professionally competent seamen, shepherding barges etc up and down the Thames. All in all a very skilful and quite 'unsung' job, they knew what they were on about !

Relentless, Revenge & Hawkstone were sister tugs employed with the Wm Cory group on the River's Thames and
Medway. Relentless & Revenge on the rough goods lighterage & Hawkstone with Cory Tank lighterage.
