Built 1937 as a freighter but adapted during WW2 for the early RAS methods then prevailing, Stirrup and then Trough. Early wartime duties in the South Atlantic and then Pacific. Fuelled Warspite and RMS Queen Elizabeth amongst others. Damaged several times including by Kamikaze at Leyte.
Others of the class were escort oilers on most Russian and Malta convoys.
Reverted to freighting after the war.
