Hello Clanline; The white structure between 3 & 4 hatches was for the refrigeration machinery. I sailed in the Rhexenor for more than two years, this photo was taken after that time, Nos. 5 & 6 lifeboats have been removed from the poop, maybe they were removed when she ceased to carry passengers. I have many happy memories of my time in the Rhexenor.

Hello Dave; If I remember correctly she carried a maximum of twelve passengers, normally quite a select group who, where prepared to pay the extra in order to travel with a small group of fellow passengers in a more laid back atmosphere, some came around the coast with us, there were no luxuries, no air con. I remember that some would come out on deck in the early mornings to be washed down with the hose when we washed the ship down between 0600 and 0730. On reflection, I seem to remember that the white structure that Clanline inquired about was called the contactor house and I remember the electricians working there, that was 60 years ago and memories fade.

Thanks for that Bruce . Thought it had to be something like that with all the vents.
All the fridge ships I sailed on had the machinery in the engine room as I recall.
