River Class minesweeper = HMS Brecon, Hunt class

River Class minesweeper = HMS Brecon, Hunt class

Photographed at Cardiff in May 2000. I believe it may be one of the River Class minesweepers built in the mid 80's
I've inset pictures of the crests/badges on the funnel and bridge front plus the name plate.
Looks like it was visiting Cardiff, incognito!

Its a Hunt class mine hunter, although a few were converted to Northern Island patrol craft (or similar) and this would appear to be one of them. I thought Brecon, Cottesmore and Dulverton were the only 3 but I can't make the name out....

Looks like Hunt Class MCMV Brecon by the ships badge and was taken during her time as a Patrol Vessel operating off Northern Ireland. She is wearing the Combined Operations badge on her funnel.

Thanks gents, for that info. I had based my class identification on the silhouette of a River Class ship. My photo shows Brecon after she was converted to a Patrol Vessel with the addition of the cranes for launching/recovering ribs.
Regards, Pete
