River Thames from stern of Woolwich Ferry

This shot from the Greenwich Heritage Centre is taken from the stern of one of the Woolwich Ferries and shows the River Thames sometime during the 1950s.

Pity the name on the motorbarge is not visible, as I am trying to find a photo of the Peter Piper, later the Saltpan. It was my fathers first "ship" during the war, supplying army forts in the Bristol Channel.

Hi Enri,
Ive just checked through my photo's of the L.R.T.Co., barges and think that the one shown could be either the Silver, Gold or Naughton, all very simlar with very small Wheel-boxes. The only shot I have of the Saltpan is a stern view, but this shows a larger wheelhouse.
Hope this helps,
Regards,
Robin.

Hello Robin,
Thanks for the info, any chance of a copy the Saltpan photo?
My father has terminal cancer and it would brighten his day to see her again, even in the form of a photo.
