Thanks Mark, Great Pic. I have borrowed that one. I was in her from build to lay-up 1980/1993 I did 93 trips aboard Her. Med, Madeira, Azores,Portugal, Norway and Many Coastal/scotland . I think She is somewhere in the Far east!. Last heard under the name "Teknic Putra" ?.

Tony, Mark,
She passed from RMAS to become the Lowland Searcher in the UK, the onto become Teknik Putra in Malaysia and is still working.

So Tony, you may have had to step over me a few times during and after commisioning... Tony Smith, Newbury Diesel (Main Engine control systems)

Cheers

Hello Tony, Did You work aboard Her during Her RMAS days at Portland. Dave Wells Was chief aboard for quite a longtime, followed by Chief engineer Mick lacy. No, I was deckside but the Engineroom was a nightmare, Tony wasn't it. You couldn't walk around it without stooping or cracking Your head. All the Engineers aboard had a great love of the Dorman Diesels. From memory I don't think they had all the generators serviceable at any one time, they certainly caused them a few headaches. I think the Main Engines were fine but alas they were a bit small. She could've done with a bit more power. I would like to see a pic of how she is today.
Regards Tony.

Tony,
The name Dave Wells rings a bell ... I guess the RMAS suffered from lack of power in having Blackstones. Try the following link for info:
http://www.crest.com.my/Teknik_Putra.htm ... you might need good glasses for the picture.

Hi again Tony. Yes I already have that picture, I tried to enlarge it but it wouldn't have it. After I finished with the Dockyard I did try to get a job with lowland but with no Joy as I had no experiance of North sea work.

Hello again I think may be you've already found a picture of how she looks today but if not google teknik putra and look at the second one down (pdf) ROV Support/survey vessel you get a pdf with a good picture and info.
Cheers
Mark
