When I was on her she was a very happy ship, she had a ghost which used to board her in Whitechapel when alongside. It was declared to be that of a departed quartermaster who did not like A/B's, the duty A/B used to be shaken in the early hours of the morning. Duty stoker and officer were unaffected. One quartermaster heard footsteps one night coming down the gangway and along the deck, he rushed down about 15secs, but no one was there, spooky!! There was a murder and at least one suicide on her in her career of 40 odd years, but she was a very comfortable, very quite running vessel one of the best in the RMAS to serve in and a better cable repair ship than Newton.
