The Portuguese cod fishing steel m/v SÃO RUY 66,82m/1.943gt; 05/1939 completed by Cuf Shipyard, Lisbon, for Empresa de Pesca de Viana, Viana do Castelo, after having being given up by Sociedade Geral, Lisbon, for which she was projected as a cargo vessel. She and her sister ship SANTA MARIA MADALENA (1), were the earliest dory motor-vessels and took part in the “Portuguese White Fleet”. Her crew was composed of 21 crewmembers and 66 dory fishermen; 1970 she was altered to fish with seine nets using motor launches: 1987 LEONE II, same owner, Panama flag, and 1993 breaking up at Viana do Castelo.
