i take it thats a roll dampning container across the boat in front of the wheelhouse?
seems to me theres a flaw in the boat design if she needs that..
her deck is in the water there.
where her top rail is would of been a better place for her deck line?

Yes Stempost, it's a roll damping tank you can see just behind the foremast.
Mounting such a tank on a vessel like this is not necessarily because the vessel needs it. I think this vessel sailed the first 15 years without such a tank, but any ambitious skipper will always try to improve his vessel, and by putting on a roll damping tank he increase the comfort onboard both for himself and for the crew...so they all last longer.
