She ran aground at night right in front of the Green Point lighthouse. The photo shows her already broken in two pieces.

If you search the gallery you will find two photos of her before she broke up. She foundered very close to shore and within the city of Cape Town, almost before your eyes.

Amongst her assorted cargo was a consignment of Hillman Imp motor cars from the factory in Linwood, in 'knocked-down' form for assembly in South Africa. Although the insurance paid out, the South African agents Stanley Motors never re-ordered. So that was the end of S.A.-assembled Imps. Another pity.
