Hello Anchorbouy,
Nice picture. The four-masted barque on the left is the German cargo-carrying sail training ship HERZOGIN SOPHIE CHARLOTTE, owned by the Norddeutscher Lloyd. Note the skysail yards on her fore- and mainmast. She was twice in Hull. The first time she arrived from Melbourne April 13th.1904 and left early in May for her homeport Bremerhaven, where she arrived May 8th. The second time she came from Port Adelaide, put into Queenstown for orders May 21st.1909, left Queenstown May 23rd. and arrived in Hull May 27th. She left Hull June 16th.for Bremerhaven (arr.June 20th.)
The photo must have been taken on one of these occasions.
regards,
Luc,Antwerp
