Hi folks,

Forgive me if you already know about these sites, but if you don't, you are in for a treat! There is a blog that has posted numerous pictures and information on the White fleet. You can see Hortense in the current month, but go back to previous months and you'll see some incredible posts. Simply go to:
http://noseomar.blogspot.com/

Scroll down, and on the right side column you'll see "Arquivo do blogue". THis is where you can look at previous months.

As if that's not enough, I've saved the best for last. There is a museum site that has an incredible resource online, showing the fleet pictures and details. Go to:
http://www.museumaritimo.cm-ilhavo.pt/
In the middle section, just below the red colored area, you'll see "click here to access database". This will open a new window. In this area, click on the top link, "Navios", and you will see the first of 19 pages of fleet data! Pictures are posted where available, and in some cases, when you open the individual vessel file, there are more pictures seen.

I have found that this site is easier to navigate in Netscape than Internet Explorer. When you open the individual files in IE, you're not able to see the full frame, which in Netscape allows you to close each file and view the next. That's why I keep 2 browsers around.

I hope you enjoy this as much as I did. The White fleet has always held a fascination for me, since Gazela is in Philly, and my wife and I sailed on Polynesia (ex-Argus). Creoula is a beauty, and I look forward to Santa Maria Manuela being restored to her glory.
Perhaps some of our Portugeuse members can keep us posted on any rewal progress reported in the blog. Unfortunately I don't read Portugeuse, and the Altavista translation service renders a poor idea of what is being said. For example, there is news on Santa Maria Manuela from the post of May 10th:
http://noseomar.blogspot.com/2007/05/santa-maria-manuela.html
(another hint, clicking on the title for the story by date will open that post in a new window. This makes it easier to print out that page if desired)

Thanks for your excellent note
Funny thing is that I've never been able to break into the Ilhavo website like you've managed. That's baffling and I've just tried again
Are you aware of the following blog?
http://lmcshipsandthesea.blogspot.com/2007/05/novo-blogue-dedicado-ao-lugre-creoula.html
Like you, I cannot read Portuguese

Hi Jay,

Yes I have seen the site you posted, although it's a little newer, so not as much there yet. There are some other interesting sites on this topic:

This looks like an excellent reference book. If anyone can track down a source to buy it, please let me know.

scroll down for shots of Principe Perfeito, the 3-m schooner. I think some of the past months had even better ones of her under sail.
