Nice memory I did lay many times dubbel bottom with this ship at london or Rouan this whas with the Gironde and the Sambre as a ex engineer 1964-1969

Its great to see another great picture of one of the Seine traders. Capt Williamson was on this one I remember.?

Thats right Capt.Ken, he was there from the beginning, 1959, to the end 1970, along with the Ch/Eng. Victor Cockle. I was there for the last 3 years and stayed on her when Metcalfs bought her. I stayed for a few months but it wasn't the same loading coal, phosphate and scrap after all those years with general cargo. Capt. Williamson had to go as Metcalfs had their own skippers to employ. I saw him a few years later when he was on the "Sassaby" a container feeder vessel in Zeebrugge.

I remember the Sambre and the Gironde well, nice little ships. I was on the Somme running from Manchester and Liverpool when the Gironde was running from there as well. Do you remember Hank the skipper?.

Alec - thanks for that. I have often wondered what happened to all the people. I remember Hank too. A very pleasant jovial Dutchman who rolled a cigarette from one side of his mouth to the other. Great days and great people.
