Seasons Greetings from Wellington, NZ

Sinclair Head can be seen just to the right ofTaputeranga Island. the Houses on the hill are part of Island Bay which has been the home port for a longstanding fishing fleet. It is also the nearest water from my place which bears due north of the Island.

We must ctch once we sail into clear weather in the new year.
Piero, I look forward to seing mor eimages of maritime life on the Italian coast and ports..

The fishing community at Island bay is very strongly Italian and Greek in make up to my understanding and Emmanuel is the author of a three volume set of books called Nets, Lines and Pots- A history of fishing in New Zealand.

Happy Christmas. Having just read Emmanuels most excellent book on the Wahine foundering this photo captures the terror and beauty of Wellington and the hard bits of the NewZealand coast very well. Any SN Members who want to get a very real snapshot of that awful day day here comes a shameless plug for Emmanuels book "The Wahine Disaster- A Tragedy Remembered-Emmanuel Makarios (Author) Highly recommended. a well deserved plug if you ask me.
he did a great job on that book.
the only problem he really had was that there was a page limitation he had to stay within so he did a great job on what to include.
Pride of place in my collection.

Cheers

Martin
